Xinhua News Agency, Bangkok, Feb. 7 (Reporter Yang Zhou) The Chinese Embassy in Thailand said on Feb. 7 that a speedboat carrying Chinese tourists capsized in the waters near the Thai island of Samei on the same day, injuring two Chinese tourists, but not in danger of their lives.
The rescue team from the Thai government of Luoyong, Mingfu Shantan, said in social media that the accident occurred around 13:00 local time. The speedboat involved 23 Chinese tourists, a tour guide and two crew members.
The Chinese Embassy in Thailand told the media that the embassy attached great importance to the accident of Samei Island speedboat capsizing. It urged the Thai police, hospitals and other departments to make full efforts to rescue the accident and the wounded, and requested travel agencies to take good care of the Chinese tourists involved and properly handle the follow-up matters such as compensation.
The embassy said that at present, the two injured were not in danger of life, and all the tourists were in stable mood and had returned to the hotel in Pattaya for rest.
