German Finance Minister Olaf Schroeder acknowledged that slowing growth in Europe's largest economy would lead to tax cuts and increased budgetary pressures, the Financial Times reported on Friday.
"We can afford a lot, but not everything, not at the same time," Scholz was quoted as saying.
The centre-left minister said the German economy was still moving forward and employment was at a "very significant" high.
"Many companies are very confident about their future prospects."
