Us restarts sanctions against Iran's oil and financial sector

      The United States on Monday restarted sanctions on Iran's oil and financial industries and increased pressure on Iran to limit Iran's missile and nuclear program and curb Iran's growing military and political influence in the Middle East.
The move will restore the sanctions lifted by the United States under the Iranian nuclear agreement in 2015 and add 300 new targets to Iran's oil, shipping, insurance and banking industries.
Details of the sanctions will be announced at a 1330 GMT press conference by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Minister Steven Mnuchin.
The United States said it would temporarily allow eight importers to continue buying Iranian oil, including major Iranian oil buyers such as China, India, South Korea, Japan and Turkey, to ensure that crude oil prices remained stable.
US officials say that these countries will put the funds paid to Iran in a custodian account.
