Diplomatic sources said that Britain may accept a legally binding guarantee on the disputed Irish border guarantee clause without requiring a merger with the EU's withdrawal agreement, suggesting that British Prime Minister Teresa May's official position may change.
Earlier this week, however, after talks between British Secretary of State for Separation and EU Chief Representative Barney for the talks, EU and British diplomatic sources told Reuters that London was still looking for changes to the safeguards. The EU has ruled out amendments.
