China is expected to publicize the revised version of the initiative at the regional summit on international cooperation held in Beijing this week, with a view to alleviating the outcry about its flagship infrastructure policy transparency and debt increase.
Chinese President Xi Jinping put forward the "one belt initiative" in 2013. According to Lufford data, the total value of projects under the initiative is $3.67 trillion, spanning countries in Asia, Europe, Africa, Oceania and South America.
According to the draft communique seen by Reuters, 37 global leaders attending the April 25-27 summit will agree on project financing, abide by global debt targets and promote green development.
A number of projects along the way will "experience rationalization and assessment", said Li Lifan, deputy director of the research center of the Shanghai Academy of social sciences.
He told reporters that the summit "will be a time to reflect on peace talks and talk about hope for the future".
