U.S. President Trump said Wednesday that ongoing trade negotiations between the United States and China are progressing smoothly and that the world's two largest economies continue to work towards a final agreement.
"We have done a good job in trade and the negotiations with China are progressing smoothly," Trump told reporters as he left the White House for an event in Florida.
The next round of Sino-US trade negotiations will begin in Beijing on April 30 and further discussions in Washington on May 8.
U.S. government officials have said in recent weeks that negotiations are progressing, but have not disclosed any details.
Trump earlier set March 1 as the deadline for reaching an agreement, but later extended it and said he would postpone imposing tariffs on Chinese goods because of the effectiveness of negotiations with China.
