U.S. President Trump issued a new threat to Iran on Sunday, tweeting that a conflict would be Iran's "real end". Saudi Arabia also warned that it was ready to respond "with all its strength" and that it was time for Iran to take action to avoid war.
Earlier, Saudi oil facilities were attacked last week, and Baghdad's heavily guarded "Green Zone" was hit by a rocket in the Iraqi government office and embassy area.
"If Iran wants war, it will be Iran's real end. Never threaten America again!" Trump said on Twitter that he did not elaborate on this.
The Saudi government stressed that it did not want war to break out. Last Tuesday, two Saudi oil pumping stations were attacked by UAVs. The pro-Iranian Yemeni Houssai armed forces led the attack. The Saudi government accused Iran of organizing the operation. Two days before the attack on the pumping station, four oil tankers were attacked in the waters of the United Arab Emirates, two of them Saudi ships.
Bahrain-based U.S. Navy's Fifth Fleet said Sunday that the Gulf Cooperation Council for Arab States (GCC) countries had begun to "strengthen security patrols" in international waters in the Gulf region since Saturday in response.
Iran has denied involvement in the aforementioned incident.
"Saudi Arabia does not want war in this region, nor does it seek war." Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir said at a press conference Sunday.
