Trade talks between the two countries broke down earlier this month and the two sides reached a deadlock as the United States demanded policy changes from China to eliminate many of the United States'grievances, including accusations of China stealing intellectual property rights and subsidizing state-owned enterprises.
The United States has raised tariffs on Chinese goods imported to the United States by $200 billion, prompting China to retaliate. In addition, the United States has effectively banned American companies from doing business with China Huawei Technology Co., Ltd. Huawei is the largest telecom network equipment manufacturer in the world.
"The United States has also raised more and more doubts about the US's provocation of trade war with China, the market turbulence caused by the war on science and technology, and the obstruction of industrial cooperation." Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang said.
"These American politicians are constantly making up all kinds of subjective presumptions to try to mislead the American people, and now they are trying to incite ideological confrontation," Lu Kang was asked about the recent criticism of HUAWEI by Mike Pompeo.
In an interview with CNBC on Thursday, Pompeo said Huawei has deep ties with the Chinese government, refuting Huawei CEO Ren Zhengfei's claim that Huawei will never share user secrets.
"The company is not only closely connected with China, but also has a deep relationship with the Communist Party of China. This correlation, the existence of this connection, puts American information circulating through Huawei's network at risk, "Pompeo said.
