MU.O said it had partially resumed shipments of chips to Huawei and still expected demand for its chips to pick up later this year, which sent its share price up 10% on Tuesday.
Metro Chief Executive Sanjay Mehrotra said some chip shipments had resumed in the past two weeks after assessing the U.S. ban on Huawei.
"We think it is legal to restore shipments of some existing products because they are not within the scope of export regulations or the limits of entity lists," Mehrotra said in a conference call with investors.
"However, the uncertainty surrounding Huawei's situation is so great that we can't predict the number of products that can be shipped to Huawei or how long it will last," he said.
The Semiconductor Industry Association says some chips are not included in the U.S. government sales ban.
In the third quarter ended May 30, Meguiar's quarterly revenue and earnings were better than analysts'forecasts.
Net profit attributable to Meguiar fell to $840 million, or $0.74 a share, in the third quarter. In the same period last year, it was $3.82 billion, or $3.10 per share.
Revenue fell from $7.8 billion to $4.79 billion, exceeding analysts'estimate of $4.69 billion, according to Refinitiv IBES.
The adjusted earnings per share were $1.05, better than analysts'estimates of $0.79 per share.
Meguiar's shares closed down 1.53% to $32.68 in the regular period and rose 10% to $35.95 in after-hours trading after the quarterly announcement.
