US says Iran's ability to influence the global oil market is limited.

      The increase in new oil and gas suppliers has weakened Iran's ability to influence global oil markets, U.S. Energy Secretary Perry said Monday.
Crude oil prices jumped on Monday after Iran seized a British-flagged tanker in the Strait of Hormuz on Friday, but at 1427 GMT, the initial sharp increase was reversed.
"I'm worried about that," Perry said at a press conference in Jerusalem, referring to the rise in oil prices after the seizure of the tanker. "But we find that the situation is totally different now than it was 10 years ago."
"New suppliers should help maintain a stable supply of fuel, whether it's crude oil, natural gas or other secondary processed products. I think when something like what we are seeing happens, there will be less market dislocation.
"It will be harder for Iranians to influence the market than it was 10 years ago."
