Taiwan's Central Meteorological Bureau said on Thursday that a 6-magnitude earthquake occurred at 5:28 a.m. in the eastern waters of Taiwan, with the largest magnitude of 6 in Ilan and 4 in Taipei, Xinbei and Xinzhu. After the earthquake, President Su Zhengchang has gone to the disaster response center. So far, thousands of households in Taipei have no electricity and the railway section has been cut off. Vehicles are also parked.
The Central Meteorological Bureau pointed out that the earthquake center occurred in the south-east of the Yilan County government, with a depth of 22.5 kilometers.
About two hours after the earthquake, the Central Disaster Response Center (CDRC) pointed out that on the railway side, the detection of the railway between Ilan and Nanao will be completed at 8:00. As for Gaoyuan Road and Nanping intersection in Taichung South District, water pipeline rupture and gas pipe leakage resulted in pavement uplift height of about 10 cm and area of about 40 square meters. Relevant units were present for treatment.
As for the National Search Center, it has ordered the Aircrew helicopter Hualien Airport to take off and carry out an air survey of the earthquake disaster in Hualien and Yilan County.
