Overseas Network, September 9, according to Yonhap News Agency, the Korean government will move Japan out of its "white list" as soon as next week. On August 28, Japan officially moved South Korea out of its "white list".
Relevant sources from the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Resources of South Korea said at a press conference on September 9 that the work on the Amendment of the Notice of Import and Export of Strategic Goods, which moved Japan out of the "White List" of South Korea's exports, had entered the final stage and the government would formally announce the amendment as soon as next week.
According to the amendment, South Korea amended the category A equivalent to "white list" countries to "A 1" and "A 2". Japan will be listed as "A 2", while other countries will remain in "A 1". The Korean government publicly solicited opinions on the amendment on August 14. The deadline for feedback is early September.
South Korea has 29 so-called "white list" countries, including the United States, Britain, Germany and Australia.
On September 3, the last day of soliciting opinions on the amendment, Japan's Ministry of Industry proposed that South Korea would be an "arbitrary retaliatory measure" if it did not respond to the specific basis and details of the amendment.
In response, South Korea's Ministry of Industry said that the amendment to remove Japan from the White List was aimed at strengthening export management, not retaliation measures.
