Randall Schriver, assistant secretary of defense for India Pacific Affairs, said Tuesday that the United States wants China to strengthen the implementation of sanctions against North Korea and take more measures to make Pyongyang more constructive in its nuclear negotiations with the United States.
At a meeting in Washington, schreiffer said China has loosened its sanctions against North Korea, especially on the trans shipment of ships in its waters that control prohibited goods.
"We hope they can do better," schreiffer said.
"The minimum is the implementation of sanctions, but I think if we restart the nuclear talks, China may have other ways to help promote the Pyongyang authorities to participate more constructively in the negotiations, which we do not see at present." Schreiffer said the United States is trying to restart nuclear talks with North Korea.
