A study by Credit Suisse shows that for the first time, China's rich population has surpassed the United States, and the number of rich people in China and the United States continues to increase.
China accounted for 100 million of the world's top 10% of the world's rich by the middle of this year, while the United States accounted for 99 million, according to the annual wealth survey released by Credit Suisse on Monday.
"Despite the tense trade situation between the US and China in the past 12 months, both countries have been very strong in wealth creation, contributing US $3.8 trillion (trillion) and US $1.9 trillion respectively," said Nannette hechler fayd'herbe, head of global economy and research at Credit Suisse.
Research shows that the number of millionaires in the world is estimated to increase by 1.1 million to 46.8 million, with the total net assets of 158.3 trillion US dollars, accounting for 44% of the world's total.
The United States accounted for more than half of the increase, adding 675000 millionaires.
