In an interview with the financial times, U.S. Commerce Secretary rose hinted that next month the U.S. may have another option in addition to imposing tariffs on imported cars from the EU, and may hold new consultations with the EU.
"One [option] means that I'm going to do nothing, the second is to tax some or all of them... The third may be some other form of negotiation," Rose said in an interview published by the financial times on Wednesday that these options are all under consideration by President trump.
On trade talks with China, rose said China was "sincerely" pushing ahead with the promise made earlier in October to buy a lot of American agricultural products.
With regard to the fact that Trump's general license for US companies to sell products to China expires in November, Rose told the paper that this is not a strict expiration date and may be adjusted.
