Los Angeles wildfire is raging, the fire is spreading rapidly, and the famous Getty Center is surrounded by the fire, but the staff in it are in danger, believing that its precious collection can rest assured.
In view of the vulnerability of Southern California to fire and earthquake, architect Richard Meier designed the Getty Center with a series of special designs to protect valuable collections. The official website of Getty Center calls itself "a miracle of fire protection engineering".
"These buildings block the fire from the outside, and the structure is basically fireproof," said Lisa lapin, a spokesman for the Getty foundation.
By Tuesday afternoon, the so-called Getty fire had burned 656 acres (265 hectares), destroyed eight homes and evacuated thousands of residents, including NBA star LeBron James and former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
