Nielsen, a global monitoring and data analysis company, released a report on China's consumption trend index on Tuesday, showing that China's consumption trend index in the third quarter was 114 points, continuing to maintain a high level of operation; among them, the consumer confidence of offline cities remained stable and showed a high-speed growth trend, and young people in small towns led the consumption trend.
According to the report, the household expenditure of consumers in the third tier cities has increased year by year. In the third quarter, 58% of consumers said that the household expenditure has increased, and they are willing to spend more money on improving basic conditions such as housing improvement. Moreover, consumers in the third tier cities are more willing to try new products and pay for star endorsements.
The Nielsen consumer trend index measures consumers' expectation of employment, willingness to consume and personal economic situation. The report shows that the employment expectation reached 78 points in the third quarter, an increase of 1 point compared with the previous quarter; the personal economic situation and consumption intention were basically the same as the previous quarter, 70 points and 61 points respectively.
From the perspective of different levels of cities, the consumption trend index of each level of cities shows an increasing trend. Among them, the consumption trend index of the first and second tier cities is 114 and 119, up 7 and 8 points respectively compared with the same period last year. However, the consumption trend index of the third tier cities increased the most significantly, 121 points, 10 points higher than the third quarter of 2018.
