Hao gen, the new trade executive of the European Commission, was quoted as saying on Monday that he would reset trade relations between the EU and the United States on a series of controversial issues when he met with U.S. counterparts for the first time next month.
Hao Gen was just promoted from the agricultural executive committee to the Trade Executive Committee this month. He told the Irish Times that he had a conversation with us trade representative leighthian on Christmas Eve.
"We agreed to meet in Washington in mid January to discuss many issues that have strained relations between Europe and the United States. Unless we reach a consensus on a common trade agenda, there is no need to discuss in detail the settlement of trade disputes. "
"I will seek to reset the EU's trade relations with the United States on issues such as steel and aluminum tariffs, such as the U.S. tariff threat against Europe's digital tax."
