Since December 2019, Wuhan Health Committee has carried out the monitoring of respiratory diseases and related diseases, and found cases of viral pneumonia with unknown causes. The clinical manifestations of the cases are mainly fever, a few patients have dyspnea, and the chest radiograph shows double lung infiltrative lesions. As of 8:00 on January 3, 2020, 44 cases of viral pneumonia with unknown causes were found, including 11 severe cases, and the vital signs of other patients were generally stable. At present, all cases have received isolation treatment in Wuhan medical institutions, 121 close contacts have been traced and medical observation has been carried out, and the tracking work of close contacts is still in progress.
Epidemiological survey showed that some cases were operated in South China Seafood City of Wuhan. Up to now, preliminary investigation shows that no obvious evidence of human to human transmission has been found, and no infection of medical staff has been found. The work of pathogen identification (including nucleic acid detection and virus isolation and Culture) and etiology tracing is in progress. Influenza, avian influenza, adenovirus infection and other common respiratory diseases have been excluded.
