On January 24, two new coronavirus case studies were published in the lancet and the Lancet Infectious Diseases, which first showed the data of the first batch of Wuhan infected people, as well as the human to human and cross city transmission of the virus between Wuhan and Shenzhen. In addition, several experts commented on the two studies, saying that it would be the top priority to mobilize the public to protect and control the spread of the virus. At the same time, they also joined the lancet in calling for open and transparent scientific information sharing and epidemic information sharing, which are key measures to help China and other countries around the world overcome this difficulty.
As of 9:30 a.m. on January 26, 2020, 1975 cases of 2019 ncov infection have been confirmed nationwide, 2684 suspected cases and 56 deaths. Most of the cases are related to the South China seafood market in Wuhan, China, where fresh slaughtered wild animals are reported to be sold, but the initial source of the infection is still unknown.
2019-ncov is likely to be closely related to the coronavirus carried by Chinese horseshoe bats. At present, six coronaviruses (including 2019-ncov and seven others) are known to cause human respiratory diseases, but so far, only SARS and mers have caused large-scale outbreaks and high mortality (10% and 37%, respectively). At present, no specific anti coronavirus drugs or vaccines have been proved to be effective for human beings.
What can the first cases in Wuhan tell us?
In the first study, the researchers analyzed the first 41 confirmed cases of 2019-ncov infection admitted in Wuhan between December 16, 2019 and January 2, 2020.
