Indonesia is the fourth most populous country in the world. The first case of virus was reported at the beginning of this month. Only 19 people were officially infected, compared with 160 in Singapore. Disease experts question how many cases in Indonesia may not be diagnosed.
Singapore's new measures, announced late Monday, came into effect on March 7, when authorities said two symptomatic Indonesian tourists arrived in Singapore.
Both had reported coronavirus symptoms in Indonesia before arriving in Singapore. A man had previously sought treatment at a hospital in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Another case involved a Singaporean who went to her sister, who had pneumonia.
The Ministry of health did not disclose whether its new position on the cost of treatment was related to specific cases.
"Given the global increase in the number of people infected with covid-19 and the expected increase in confirmed cases in Singapore, we will need to prioritize the resources of public hospitals," the Ministry said in a statement
