China tests new space capability with hypersonic missile

      China recently conducted a “very concerning” test of a hypersonic weapon system as part of its aggressive advance in space and military technologies, America’s top military officer has confirmed.


The general understanding is that hypersonic missiles will beat and undermine the ballistic missile defence systems, a serious international security concern.

Twice in the summer, the Chinese military launched a rocket into space that circled the globe before speeding towards its target.
On the first occasion, it missed its target by about 24 miles (40 km), according to people briefed on the intelligence speaking to the Financial Times, which broke the story.
