Kia is considering suspending operations at its factories in China

      A source familiar with the situation told Reuters on Sunday that South Korea's Kia Motor (000270.KS) may suspend operations at its first factory in China as a step in the company's long-term efforts to improve its competitiveness.
Kia Auto has since issued a statement saying it is reviewing a number of plans to enhance its production and sales competitiveness in the Chinese market.
Kia Automobile is an affiliated company of Hyundai Automobile (005380.KS), which cooperates with China Dongfeng Automobile Group (0489.HK) and Jiangsu Yueda Investment (600805.SS) to produce automobiles. They set up and operate three production plants in Jiangsu Province.
