A senior EU official said EU leaders would coordinate their positions on a series of issues they intend to raise with China at the China-EU Summit on April 9, including close cooperation on WTO reform and cyber security concerns.
The official said that although the talks will not come to a written conclusion, the leaders of the 28 EU countries will also discuss what position Europe should take in the U.S. -China trade conflict.
"We are ready to propose to China a very comprehensive cooperation in many areas," said the official who participated in the preparations for the EU Leaders'Meeting.
He said EU leaders were ready to reach an "ambitious" Sino-European investment agreement by 2020, with leaders of EU agencies directly involved in negotiations to speed up the slow progress so far.
