U.S. said the CHINA -U.S. trade talks are expected to approach the "final round

      U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said on Saturday that the U.S. -China trade agreement will "surpass" previous efforts to promote China's efforts to open its markets to U.S. enterprises, and the negotiations between the two sides are expected to "approach the final round".
Nuchin told reporters on the margins of the spring meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank that he and U.S. Trade Representative Lettershire would have two telephone conversations with Vice Premier Liu He of the State Council in the next week. Officials on both sides are still discussing whether more face-to-face talks are needed to reach an agreement.
"I think we are hopeful of approaching the final round of negotiations to solve the problem," Nuchin said.
China and the United States are seeking an agreement to end the bitter trade war. In this trade war, the two world's largest economies imposed tariffs on each other, incurring billions of dollars in losses, destroying supply chains and hitting financial markets.
Asked if the market openness in the agreement would go beyond the scope of the 2016 BITs, he responded: "We are making progress, and I want to be cautious. This is not open consultation... it's a very, very detailed agreement that covers issues that have never been addressed before, "Nuchin said. "This goes far beyond the content of bilateral investment agreements."
