Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Saturday that he hopes Iran will continue to export oil, although Washington is trying to cut Iranian oil exports.
The United States requires all Iranian oil buyers to stop importing on May 1 or face sanctions. The move is aimed at cutting Iran’s oil revenues.
The United States expects Saudi Arabia and its Gulf allies to increase production to compensate for the supply gap caused by the decline in Iranian oil exports
When asked about Saudi Arabia's attitude toward replacing Iran's reduced supply in the global market, he told reporters: "I hope this will not happen in the end - but in theory, OPEC+ has reached an agreement."
He refers to the global production reduction agreement signed between OPEC and Russia, which will expire until the end of June.
"We have not received any information from Saudi Arabia or other partners, any OPEC member states indicating that they are ready to withdraw from the agreement," Putin said.
