A magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck Changning County, Yibin City, Sichuan Province, late Monday. As of 5:20 p.m. today, 11 people were killed, 122 injured and rescue efforts are still under way. The Ministry of Emergency Management of China has launched an emergency response and sent a working group to the earthquake area to guide local rescue and relief work, according to the latest CCTV microblog report on Tuesday.
It was reported that a magnitude 6.0 earthquake occurred in Ningxian County, the mayor of Yibin, at 22:55 yesterday. Up to 8:00 today, 62 aftershocks of magnitude 2.0 and above have been recorded, including 2 with magnitude 5.0-5.9, 3 with magnitude 4.0-4.9, 10 with magnitude 3.0-3.9, 47 with magnitude 2.0-2.9 and the largest with magnitude 5.3.
