British Chancellor of the Exchequer, Hammond, said Britain hoped that President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping would make progress in easing trade tensions when they met in Japan later this month at the summit of leaders of the Group of 20 (G20).
"Britain is a very open trading economy. We are very vulnerable to any factors affecting global trade and global economic growth, so we very much hope that the tension between the United States and China can be resolved as soon as possible.
"We are confident that we can find a solution," he said at a press conference held Monday after talks with Vice Premier Hu Chunhua on economic and financial relations between Britain and China.
