Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is unlikely to meet with South Korean President Wen Yoon at the United Nations General Assembly in September, according to Nikkei News. This is the latest sign of the deterioration of relations between the two countries.
According to the Maternal Economics News, Abe will not hold talks with Wen Jae-yin unless the South Korean side takes constructive measures on the issue of forced labour recruitment during World War II and other issues.
Japan has tightened exports of some high-tech materials to South Korea on the grounds of insufficient management of sensitive items in South Korea. The control measure is seen as a response to a Korean court ruling ordering Japanese companies to compensate for forced labor recruitment during World War II.
