China exempts Tesla Electric Vehicle from 10% Vehicle Purchase Tax

      China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology announced on Friday that Tesla (TSLA.O) electric vehicles will be exempted from vehicle purchase tax.
Tesla's Wechat Public Number said that after 10% of the vehicle purchase tax was exempted, the maximum savings on Tesla cars would be about 99,000 yuan ($13,957.82). Tesla sees China as one of its most important and growing markets.
In the catalogue of new energy vehicles exempted from vehicle purchase tax issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, Tesla Model S, Model X and Model 3 are listed.
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology did not provide reasons for exemption from Tesla Vehicle Purchase Tax. Tesla is currently expanding in China, with new plants coming into operation and founder and CEO Elon Musk visiting China.
Tesla did not respond to Reuters'request for comment.
