In wind turbines, spindle bearings play a key role because of the huge load generated by wind and the corresponding rotating parts. Once bearing failure occurs, it will cause loss of power generation, and the process of maintenance and replacement is complex, time-consuming and expensive. Considering the large size, high power and harsh operating environment of 10MW offshore permanent magnet direct drive wind turbine, customers put forward high bearing capacity, high reliability and long service life requirements for spindle bearings. In response to this demand, Schaeffler with rich product development and application experience, to provide customers with customized single row tapered roller bearings solutions.
The outer diameters of these two bearings are 3.2m and 3.1m respectively, which are the largest single row tapered roller bearings provided by Schaeffler in the wind power market of China. The bearing adopts the design form of pin-through cage, which maximizes the size and quantity of the internal rolling element and greatly improves the bearing capacity. In the production process of this bearing, Schaeffler adopted the highest standard of wind power industry - Schaeffler Wind Power Standard WPOS, committed to maximizing the quality and reliability of bearings and improving the traceability of bearings. At the same time, the bearing adopts 100% grinding burn inspection and ultrasonic inspection to reduce the possibility of internal defects.
As one of the important suppliers of wind power industry, Schaeffler actively participates in the construction of China's wind power industry and continuously promotes the localization process of products. At present, Schaeffler has set up a production line of wind power products in Nanjing. The No. 4 workshop for large bearing of wind power has been broken ground recently. After completion, the local production capacity of Schaeffler in the wind power industry will be further improved.
