Australia's trade minister, Simon Birmingham, said Monday that India would continue negotiations on an Asian trade agreement. The trade agreement is being discussed at a summit of regional leaders in Bangkok, and Thailand says it will be signed next year.
Although Thai officials say India is part of the deal, the Australian Minister's comments raise new questions about India's participation in China backed regional comprehensive economic partnership (RCEP).
"My understanding is India will continue discussions and negotiations. Our door is always open to India, "Birmingham told reporters in Bangkok when asked if India would join RCEP.
