Iran is continuing to exceed the limits on its nuclear activities imposed by the nuclear agreement as a response to the withdrawal of the US nuclear agreement and the re imposition of sanctions last year. Tehran said that if the sanctions were lifted, violations could be quickly recovered. Sanctions have hit Iranian oil exports hard.
Iran said last week that it had resumed enriching uranium at its Faldo nuclear facility, the most symbolic violation so far.
In 2015, Iran's nuclear agreement banned Iran from concentrating or storing nuclear materials in fuldo, but allowed some centrifuges to be used for research purposes.
"Iran has been enriching uranium at the plant since November 9, 2019," Reuters saw in the International Atomic Energy Agency's quarterly report to Member States.
The U.S. government said "extreme pressure" on Iran would force it to negotiate a more comprehensive agreement covering its ballistic missile program and its role in the Middle East conflict. Iran said it would not negotiate until sanctions were lifted. The other parties to the agreement are still trying to prevent the complete bankruptcy of the agreement.
Since the beginning of July, Iran has broken through the limitation of nuclear agreement in terms of enriched uranium reserves and enriched uranium abundance, and no longer abides by the regulation that only the most basic centrifuge ir-1 is used for uranium enrichment.
