US President trump on Saturday attacked House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for delaying his impeachment to the Senate.
"It's not fair," trump said in a speech to turning point USA, a conservative student group, and said Pelosi adopted the strategy because she had "nothing to say.".
"They are unconstitutional," trump said, referring to Pelosi as "crazy Nancy.".
The Democratic led house of Representatives voted on December 18 to impeach trump, which will be tried by the Senate. With Republicans in the Senate, trump is unlikely to be convicted or removed. Impeachment can only be established if two-thirds of the senators vote for it.
Congressmen in control of Trump's fate left Washington on Friday for a holiday. They didn't reach a consensus on how to impeach the Senate in January.
Pelosi has yet to send the impeachment case to the Senate, hoping to raise the pressure on Republican senators, and has yet to announce who will be the prosecutor to present evidence in the impeachment trial.
Republicans and Democrats disagree on how to complete the trial. Democrats are trying to get Trump's top aides to testify, but Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell wants the Senate to decide without hearing new witnesses.
According to an aide to a Democratic congressman, the house will not be able to send the impeachment clause to the Senate until it reconvenes on January 7 next year. According to McConnell, the Senate will resume its meeting on January 3 and will not vote until January 6.
