On February 7, the Nigerian government warned of an outbreak of an unidentified disease in the country, causing vomiting, diarrhea, swelling and other symptoms. On January 29, the country's first case occurred in the southern part of the capital, Benue state. In less than a week, at least 104 people have been infected, and 15 patients are suspected of dying within 48 hours of infection. Initial tests showed that the disease was not Ebola or Lhasa fever, and had nothing to do with the new crown pneumonia. The Minister of Health said the disease may be caused by chemicals used in fishing, and Nigerian senators called on the Ministry of health to send experts to inspect the affected areas as soon as possible.
